New to both Reddit and the Game Boy community. Here's my first custom GBC! [R]

Frontlight was installed with LOCA and wound up being a much smoother process than expected. This is the first GBC I've held since I was about 10, so I definitely expected to brick it. Instead I managed to come away with a big learning experience AND a playable console!

Krylon doesn't make as good as a sealant as they should. Check out U-Pol Clear #1 It's literally the best sealant available for Gameboys for the price. It completely makes it glossy and beautiful, SO smooth.

Posca paints are the best, and I use Krylon chalky finish for my base coats.

Hope that helps! :) I was a bit disappointed that the Gengar had a button in his eye on the final product :( but a great job regardless!

Just finished a Mega Man themed DMG...what do you guys think? [R]

Process is pretty easy, start with a good base paint. Anything Krylon matte should work fine, or flat. Then when your coat is completely covering the case, make sure it's had about 3 hours to completely cure. Then, take your Posca Paint Pens and go to town! After that, seal it with some awesome sealant and you're good to go. This is the sealant that we use, and it's amazing. I do about 4-5 light coats and it's such a glossy, wonderful finish. To me, it's perfect!!

Just finished another DMG, this time we've got Princess Peach... [R]

Thank you! We use Krylon Chalky finish for most of our base coats, with Posca paint pens for the artwork and this. Make sure the 3 dry perfectly before trying to do more work, that stuff is tricky at times.

Definitely good reasons, especially if you don't like painted ones. No doubt that it's a good minimalist looking BMO though. The paintjob looks superb, what paint did you use and sealant?

We used Waterfall chalky finish paint and this sealant.

Just finished our first Gameboy based on an anime girl.....MORE TO COME! [R]

Lets see, I use this and be suuuuper freaking careful as it's VERY thick. If it gets where the screen lens goes, you'll have to sand/remove it. Same with where the batteries go.

I will make your GameBoy Mod design a reality, and give you free Pokémon shot glasses for it... [R]

Oh okay, glad I have a better idea of what and how it works now!

What's a good paint remover? As I started to paint something and it's completely fucked T_T I'm so sad. Do you know why a paint would bubble up the second it touches the surface of a DMG shell? It's so foreign to me as I've never encountered it before.

Here's the sealant I use, it's expensive but amazing as I just switched over from urethane.

Before and after! Opinions are strongly welcomed, good and bad! 2006 WRX [R]

You should consider a product like U-Pol, which will add an entirely new UV resistant clear layer to your lens surface (in the mean time, if you have an upgrade planned down the road). Mask area and tape off lenses, then wet sand with 800 grit. Dry and wipe with isopropyl alcohol, then spray several even coats of U-Pol. This technique seems to work extremely well on Subaru lenses.

Heres another video about restoring headlights, using clear coat to last much longer than just sealant [R]
