Yeah I was thinking. Do you think I can solder it into one of these? https://www.amazon.com/SPECIALTY-AV-OFCGL2-Turntable-Cartridge-Headshell/dp/B009W2BE0M/ref=sr13?ie=UTF8&qid=1537325023&sr=8-3&keywords=headshell+wires&dpID=311DXYIY9qL&preST=SX300QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Help with Changing U-Turn Orbit Cartridge [R]

Hey guys,

I'm attempting to change the cartridge on my orbit, which is currently the standard AT91B. As I've tried to disassemble the headshell to remove the cartridge, I've found some difficulty removing the four wires from the cartridge itself - I've been using some needle-nosed pliers, and I've applied more than enough force trying to remove them (without damaging), yet they won't come out. I've watched videos (like this one, around 1:12) which makes the removal look rather effortless, with much less force I've been applying try to take the wires out. If you have any pointers, I appreciate your help!

I love getting a new cartridge... but I hate dealing with cartridge leads. Good luck OP. Just know if you break a lead, you can buy new ones on amazon.

Cartridge replacement help [R]

4 years, 11 months agoisthishandletaken posted submission on vinyl.
April 30, 2015

I just picked up a Mitsubishi DP-12 TT from craigslist for $20. All it needs is a new belt and a new cartridge and stylus (and a good cleaning). I am not sure how to replace the cartridge on this thing, as the wires seem to be soldered into the cartidge? http://imgur.com/v4Zsljt

I tried pulling them out with some needle nose pliers, but they did not budge and I did not want to pull too hard. I was able to take that head off by unscrewing those two upside down screws on the bottom right of the image, but those four wires run all the way up the tonearm, so I can't fully remove the head. I am a beginner, but I need help figuring how to get this old ratty cartridge removed! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Headshell leads can be bought and replaced on most universal headshells.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks as if your headshell isn't a universal removable kind.

The leads seem to be coming from the tonearm itself. Therefore, cutting them would be a bad idea IMO. Even if you re-terminated and did a good job soldering, I would imagine it would be a problem spot creating static and drop out channels.

Better to just leave it on a turntable of this quality.

Have I ruined my turntable? [R]

I decided to upgrade the cartridge on my tt (U-Turn orbit) and in the process my fingers slipped and I accidentally pulled the wire out of the plastic connector. Does anyone know if it's possible to repair this on my own? And if not does anyone know any good tt repair shops in the Seattle area?

Couldn't you just use these? http://www.amazon.com/SPECIALTY-AV-OFCGL2-Turntable-Cartridge-Headshell/dp/B009W2BE0M

I can't tell if the wire is broken or if the connector is broken.
