Obama loves to play the victim and blame his mistakes on others. If the deal was bad, Obama should have renegotiated, just like Trump would have. Trump literally wrote the art of the deal so he would know. Obama never even read that book even though Trump told him he should have. I bet you haven't read it either. Trump said from the beginning he would be president and he did, but I bet you were one of those who thought that would never happen too. Keep showing us how stupid you really are.

A book with a demented/morally reprehensible main character. I'm looking to read about a completely despicable person. [R]

I've enjoyed books such as The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, Filth by Irvine Welsh, Lolita by Nabokov and American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.

I like dark fiction so anything along those lines that you have read and enjoyed, please let me know!

You're probably right, but I don't assume a book about business dealings would have a "morally reprehensible main character" especially considering this was ghost written.

Read the reviews:

If it was really "reprehensible" then there would be something on it, yes?

Eh you guys are fucking jerk offs. Find something to talk about that isn't Trump.

Something that will teach me how to 'talk business' [R]

2 months, 2 weeks agoProblemBesucher posted submission on suggestmeabook.
June 29, 2019

Some background - I was a quiet nerd growing up (still am,really), and never learnt the craft of 'talking business'. Now I frequently find myself in situations where I'm being taken advantage of, because the person talking to me poses a smart argument that I can't come back from because I'm not as quick to think on my feet.

What I find interesting is that the arguments they pose are not linear with the conversation, but related enough for them to gain an edge over me.

Please suggest some books - regardless of if they're light reads or textbooks that will help me be sharper.

Thanks and cheers!

So, you don't understand why we enacted the tariffs? There's actually a whole book on it. You can find it here.

Tariffs are a means, not an ends. The ends (goal) is zero tariffs.

> He didn't write the Art of the Deal

News to me.

> You didn't expand on anything

Because I am at work and on mobile.

But the gist:

  • They are rhetorically completely different people. Reagan was inspiring where Trump is degrading.

  • Reagan criticized "Trust Me" government. Trump famously says "Believe me."

  • Reagan literally called for open borders, even saying "instead of this talk about building a fence", while Trump wants his Wall.

  • The Reagan tax reform was absolutely massive and substantial. Trump just did counter-cyclical tax cuts.

  • Reagan would have never agreed to suspend military excercises with South Korea, considering he turned down an offer for the United States and the Soviet Union to scrap all nuclear weapons in exchange for giving up his Strategic Defense Initiative program.

And so on, just for starters.

The more you know [R]

A) Addressing one's name and making fun of a physical characteristic are not in the same. Isn't the left supposed to be accepting of everyone and their "body image"? B) Most people shorten it to DJT and he also embraces his middle initial himself. He even places his middle initial on the books he has authored.

Why? Because it's his name and he's proud of it. Why does Barry feel the need to hide his full name?

> I guess that depends on exactly what you mean by intelligence. To me, intelligence means the ability to understand things.

That is certainly part of it.

>But I don't think he understands why what he's doing works.

I think he understands it - at least well enough to write a book about his strategies and why they work. What I really thing is going on is YOU don't understand why what he is doing works. To you it looks chaotic and disorganized and lucky and 'he must be an idiot' or whatever... but he knows EXACTLY what he is doing.

I think it would do you good to read it (get it from a library if you don't want to support him - I don't care).

>Sure, he got himself elected president against the odds.

>But he also made some incredibly stupid moves that have a real possibility of destroying his administration.

Oh? See, YOU say this... but you aren't president nor do you have billions of dollars nor did you write a book about HOW you do things. I'll agree that the normal tv pundits will SAY that he has a 'real possibility of destroying his administration'.... but I think they are using a flawed analysis - the same flawed analysis that predicted his loss.

So what has he done that could possibly destroy his administration? Not just 'this think I disagree with' - but 'the thing that will cause him to be impeached'? Lets not forget that the democrats have called the articles of impeachment for EVERY republican president since Reagan (already did it once to Trump) with nothing to show for it... kind of a boy who called wolf.

Will it be forcing congress to create a law surrounding daca - will that destroy him? Will building a wall destroy him? How about the tax cuts - will those destroy his administration? Point to something - lets see it - what has he done that could possibly destroy his administration?

>And he really seems to have zero understanding of the issues he's supposed to be dealing with as president,

Hmmm, it is my impression that he has a fantastic understanding of the issues. You may not like his decisions, but they seem in line with someone who really does understand human psychology, the state of the world and the major players, and is pushing to get his agenda done.

> both from the things he says publicly and the leaks about what he's like behind closed doors.

Lesson 1: the tweets are meant for YOU. If you are on his side, they make for great comedy (both in themselves, and from the reaction from his opposition). If you are against him, they are MEANT to rile you up because the state of 'being riled' at tweets means you are NOT in a state to be effective about anything else. His tweets induce frustrated impotency in his opposition - and it is fucking hilarious!

Behold, the big button! How does that make you feel - are you giggling because it is absurdly funny, or are you angry because 'nuclear war'? How productive are you going to be today if you are angry about nukes (which isn't a serious possibility) vs having a little laugh? Are you going to spend the next hour enraged on twitter? I've seen a lot of salt this past year from his opposition - all those negative emotions and rage every day for a year... why? So they can be miserable all year? For me, enjoying the laugh is far better than soaking in rage.

Lesson 2: the 'leaks' behind closed doors don't harm him. He has largely figured out now who the leakers are, and I think at this point he intentionally feeds them mis-information so that he can call out fake news the next day. If you heard it from an 'anonymous whitehouse official'... it is most certainly bullshit.

1) He uses his emotions to show that he cares

2) He uses easy words to make you understand

3) He talks slow when he wants you to listen

4) He repeats his statements if he wants you to remember them

5) He opens his arms to show he isn’t lying

6) He keeps switching in tone height and volume to keep you listening

7) He targets the doubters to maximize the effect of his pitch

8) He never doubts to show you he is determined

I hope this helps you, if you ever need to pitch your company some day :)

I've been reading through the lexicanium to digest some lore for my new obsession, Nurgle and his favored son Typhus. And I noticed in the cited novels Typhus was the antagonist in the novels he appeared in. Which kinda sucks because as we all know the antagonist always loses.

So I guess my question is what are some books that follow a protagonist with a moral compass that points a bit more south? Preferably follower of Nurgle, but any "Bad Guy/Gal" would be a fun read.

Edit: To add to u/alien-smalien recommended. I've followed this rabbit hole a bit. Anyone interested I've added some summaries from The Black Library.

The Word Bearers Omnibus. The Word Bearers are among the most feared and reviled of all Chaos Space Marines. Fierce warriors with a fanatical religious zeal, they blaze across the galaxy in the service of their Dark Gods. Worlds will burn, and entire civilisations will fall before the fury of the XVIIth Legion. In the dark days of the 41st millennium, First Acolyte Marduk leads his fanatical warband, the 34th Host, in service to the Ruinous Powers, with but a single goal: to tear down the Imperium of Man Written by Anthony Reynolds

Nurgle's Gift & The Tallyman (eBook) *note these are short stories and I don't think they are in the Word Bearers Omnibus. The Word Bearers clash with pustulent daemons and Plague Marines offer a dangerous bargain to disease-wracked humans in this pair of tales about the servants of Nurgle. ABOUT THE BOOK This ebook contains two Warhammer 40,000 short stories dedicated to Nurgle, written by Guy Haley, and Anthony Reynolds

Night Lords Omnibus Guided by the visions of the prophet Talos, a Night Lords warband struggles for survival. But when they come into conflict with fellow renegades and are hunted by the eldar, they find themselves returning to the scene of their greatest defeat and drawn into a battle they cannot possibly win. Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Iron Warriors Omnibus Follow the schemes of the embittered Warsmith Honsou in his struggles against the hated Space Marines of the Imperium. Containing the novel Storm of Iron and the Novella Iron Warrior, gathered alongside several Iron Warrior short stories. Written by Graham McNeill

Determining the value of my business [R]

I was recently approached by an investment firm wanting to buy my business. They will want to keep me on with maybe a small percentage of ownership and a salary. How would I go about determining the value?

We are in our 4th year, did 30k the first year with a loss, 300k the second with a loss, 600k last year with a profit of 120k. We are on track to do a bit over a million this year, with 510k so far. I expect 400k ish profit for the year. Profit margins are bigger as we reinvested a lot of the first years in to equipment.

Is there a certain way to determine the value? We have about 130k of low interest debt and 375k worth of equipment.

Thanks for any help!

While it's more about anthropology than economics, its emphasis on empiricism and how humans construct our own 'shared fictions' was really interesting to me.

What do you make of the obstruction of justice charge and Trump's constitutional executive defense? [R]

2 years, 3 months agoSmellGestapo posted submission on PoliticalDiscussion.
June 9, 2017

Although the testimony of former FBI head Jim Comey largely cleared Trump personally of collusion with the Russians as of his firing, Comey suggested that Trump could be in trouble with special counsel Bob Muller over an attempt to obstruct justice in regards to the Russia investigation in toto and former NSA director Mike Flynn in particular. Some legal experts say that Trump has obstructed justice b/c he fired Comey for not ending the Russia probe, but others like professor Alan Dershowitz (which Trump retweeted about) say that Trump cannot obstruct justice because of his inherent authority as president to fire the FBI director and direct the manner and outcome of any investigation with some exceptions (bribery, witness tampering, corruption). Are the statutes governing obstruction that would ordinarily ensnare non-Presidents in conflict with the constitutional powers that are given to the president?

For example, if a lead FBI investigator decides to close an investigation w/o a proper reason he could be charged with obstructing justice, but a president might not be in the same circumstance b/c he has the ultimate authority on executive branch decisions.

However, I am looking to ramp up, but for the life of me, there doesn't seem to be any UK chocolate bar producers that isn't Nestle/Cadburys/Another big name. These people manufacture their own products rather than other people's.

Can anyone help me? It is too expensive for me to produce in house, but these factories won't produce for me obviously.

I am looking for someone in the UK, or possibly the EU who can produce standard 50g chocolate bars with one added ingredient. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Such players, in other words, possess one-year deals and can't be traded without their consent because they've signed with the same team two seasons (or more) in a row and would have to forfeit their free-agent Bird rights if traded elsewhere before the end of the current season.

Here are the other players that have the same power:

Atlanta: Kris Humphries

Cleveland: James Jones

Dallas: Deron Williams

Detroit: Beno Udrih

Most politicians, including Trump's Art of the Deal, don't write their own books. They use ghost writers who compose their general ideas. It really should be no surprise that a book published by the holder of the most powerful political position in the US would be an instant best seller, regardless of content. I am admittedly not a fan of Donald Trump, however my Stepdad is a staunch Republican and supporter. I want to get him something that he'll really like for Christmas, regardless of my own political perspective.

He's an avid reader, so I am thinking a conservative-leaning book, preferably something fairly recent and factually accurate. Doesn't necessarily need to be about Trump, specifically; could be based on historical events, social/cultural changes/impacts/movements, or something else if you have something in mind.

Non-book suggestions are also welcome; like I said, I'm in alien territory here so there are probably tons of things I would never have known to consider.

PS I'm not looking for a political discussion or debate, simply asking a community that is like-minded to my Stepdad for suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

3 years, 1 month agotttggg333 posted submission on KotakuInAction.
Aug. 15, 2016

Okay, this isn't a foreign concept to me, at least, reading about it on internet forums and posts in lands far, far away (I'm an Irishman, probably the whitest country in the world.). And I'm aware of the fact that people on this subreddit post "YOU'RE A WHITE MALE" in jest, when it comes to posts about sjw's or whatever. Perhaps however, the reason I never took it seriously was because I never really saw it in motion.

That was until today.

I happened to see a facebook post from a fairly popular page (non-feminist, at least, not in its description) and it was a post about how Michael Phelps had taken headlines for winning silver on a newspaper and underneath was a female athlete who had broken a world record for something or other and there was outrage about how women were under represented or something. I basically commented that it was possible he may have taken headlines because he is one of the most decorated athletes in recent olympic history. The first reply, and I'm not joking was, "I think the white male is trying to communicate," and it got 300+ likes.

No attempt to refute the argument, just an ad hominem attack. I wouldn't really have minded that much, if it wasn't for the fact the next reply, and many others was, "You're a white male, your opinion is irrelevant," while all maintaining 100+ likes or whatever. Absolutely no attempt from any of them to dissect the argument. I wouldn't have even minded if there had been a valid reason as to why I was wrong.

Why, you ask, do I bring this up? Especially since most of you have probably already experienced it, and are a lot more vocal than I am(probably)? Well, if this is supposedly a normal, non-feminist/sjw page, is this... dare I say becoming normal, as in among normal people (normies)? I mean, there's always going to subreddits like Ghazi which are basically echo chambers and what not. But this struck me a bit harder than it probably should have. I wasn't offended by any stretch of the imagination, but I was quite saddened that this is becoming more apparent. Even media in Ireland here, have slowly started to swallow this rubbish, a country that has been white for all of its history.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this, especially since the large majority here, I imagine, are white males(lol). How do we respond to such things? Cheers for your time, and I apologise to mods if this is somewhat off-topic.

Between that and Cartman being a Trump fan, I could see some great storylines coming. Also, honorable mention to everyone who said Cartman would love Hillary instead. Yes, Hillary is corrupt and a flip flopper, but she hasn't vehemently spoken out against Muslims and Mexicans the way Trump has. Plus I love the idea of fat little Cartman walking around in a suit and tie and Trump hair. Of course only time will tell, but I'll be sorely disappointed if we don't get some prime material from this insane election season.

> If you don't know Harriet Tubman existed you should probably pick up a book.

So I'm looking for some book recommendations. I'd like something that follows an evil/dark character as they eventually attain their goal. Any suggestions? Thanks! [R]

He's for diplomacy with Cuba but we need to make a good deal with them. He said he'll close the embassy in Havana until a good deal can be worked out. The Art of the Deal.

I feel kind of bad about this fact. He is spending millions of his own money to help us all. Instead of just giving him money, buy his books or hats. You get something and you get to support Making America Great Again. I'm ordering The Art of the Deal right now.

[SERIOUS] Bernie supporter here, Congrats! Let's get money out of politics! I have a few questions! [R]

First off, I'm not here to debate anyone, question your beliefs or try to sway you. I will keep my replies to "Thank you!" Or "could you elaborate?".

What is the main issue that draws you to support Trump? What do you not agree with him on?

And finally,

Why would Trump want to go after Japan? I'm seriously stumped on this one after watching his acceptance speech.

Edit: I now know that he was referring to our shifty trade agreements with just about everyone when he said he wanted to go after Japan.

Edit 2: I'm asking these questions out of curiosity, and a general need to understand the opposite side.
