Please help me find this book for my daughter [R]

So my daughter is in the first grade and has started to write in a journal. Im really pumped as i have journal'd since i was around her age.

Specifically i was inspired by a book i had read, the name slipped my mind and all i can work off of was it was a story about a boy, he named his journal Duncan and would start off by greeting his journal...either dear Duncan or hello Duncan.

I know this is a long shot but would anyone out there have any idea what im talking about? I would love to read it to her and encourage her use of a journal.

TIA

[Contest] Let me gift you before my Prime expires! [R]

4 years, 6 months agoMarch 6, 2015

Contest closed! Thank you all for entering :) I'll be announcing the winner in a Gifted post shortly!

Hello friends! Here's what's up: I have $9.60 in gift cards on Amazon, and my Prime expires very soon and unfortunately I can't renew it right away. I'd like to get the most out of it while I still can!

So, tell me something on your wishlist that is Prime eligible and under $9.60 and why you want it. It doesn't have to be something you need, and the more random the better! Use the raffle phrase "Optimus Prime" in your post.

Contest ends sometime tomorrow night :)

Optimus Prime! My bunny's nickname is Hoptimus Prime!

I have this book, The Day the Crayons Quit, on my wishlist for both my kids at home and the kids in my classroom (and, I'll be honest, me). It's awesome and I've been wanting it for a long time.

Thanks for the contest :)

I was showing him a calendar of my photography I put together, and he noticed a small error. I got apologetic, and he stopped me and said "Never apologize for your art"

That hit me, hard. I straightened up a little, and was like Damn straight!

Then I asked him where he heard that. He said You told me that when I didn't have a brown crayon for coloring my turkey.

That's my boy.

I'm a youth and family program assistant at the library where I work. I could use some kids books! Well, a kids book since we're going for a $10 item and kids books are ridiculously expensive sometimes. I would love to have my own copy of The Day the Crayons Quit. It's always checked out from the library and it'd be nice to have a copy that I can take with me to storytimes without needing to plan it ahead of time. This science experiment book would be awesome, too, if you wanted to gift two people something around $5 each. I'm working on a series of STEAM storytimes. I'm really looking forward to it. This would be a great book to get ideas from.

I thought it might be fun to share pictures of our pets, past or present. Something pretty innocuous to get to know each other better:)
If you don't have a pet, feel free to share anything, really- how your day is, a good recipe, book recommendation, vacations slides. Okay, maybe not that last one.

I saw a video of BJ Novak reading that book- It looks really funny, and def. dependent on the narrator- so good on you for taking it on! Though I am by no means religious, I am fascinated by religion- I will take a look at your other title:)
See if your school library has this one- it's very clever and fun to read-

I love children's books that treat them like young people and don't pander to them, as well as challenge their imagination.

Literally any Dr. Seuss book is great, I've found. I just started reading to my kid and--aside from being mostly about colors, numbers, and patterns--the repetition and rhyming really make it easy to read it outloud.

We also like The Day the Crayons Quit, which is a cute little story about getting along with other people. My favorite when I was a kid, that I ended up buying for my own, was Big Dog, Little Dog. It's got great artwork (or so I thought when I was a kid, haha; it's actually pretty simple), and a funny story about how two completely different people are still awesome at working together.

Regular toy-wise, anything by Melissa and Doug is gonna be good. And they're fairly cheap, too, for how well-built they are.
