It’s a great way to reward players doing unexpected and out-of-the-box things without making it the norm. You want to use a tree to surf out the avalanche? Dudebro, god of heroism and audacious feats, has granted you his favor because of how totally awesome that is. However, doing the same thing a second time won’t interest him nearly as much, so you’re on your own.

I don’t think Barney’s toxic masculinity is unironic. That would mean this book is actually offering a code to live by, as opposed to the humor coming from how ridiculous it is.

This episode definitely touched on why toxic masculinity is a bad thing. When you go around getting in fights (in this case taking credit for one they didn’t even participate in) because it’s “manly” bad things happen.

Hey everyone, so my coworker and I are huge How I Met Your Mother fans, and I just so happened to get her for Secret Santa. Unfortunately, we set the price at $15, but I am willing to spends $20 or so for the perfect gift. We're both 20 years old and she doesn't necessarily have any favorite or most hated characters if that helps anyone. Are there any cool gift ideas for around $15-$20?

What is a Bro? [R]

You have probably heard the word "Bro" used liberally at your local bar or gym. Perhaps you've seen it recklessly confused with "dude" or "guy". Maybe even you, yourself have unwittingly thrown out a "bro" when asking a stranger for the time. But an important distinction must be made!

Just because a guy is a dude, does not mean that dude is your Bro!

So what is a Bro? A Bro is a person who would give you the shirt off his back(when he doesn't want to wear it anymore). A Bro is a person who would bend over backwards to help you bend someone else over backwards. A bro is a life long companion who will always be there for you(unless he's got something else going on). So who is YOUR Bro? When someone faithfully upholds one or more of the codes in the The Bro Code, then he is considered your Bro.

Warning: Your brother may or may not be your Bro!

Can only dudes be your Bro? Absolutely not. You don't need to be a guy to be someones Bro. So long as the The Bro Code is upheld with respect and honor, any women could potentially be your Bro.

Example: When a chick hooks you up with one of her hot friends, she is acting as a Bro. And if she then set's you up with another hot chick after you ditched the first one and never called her again, then she is officially your Bro.

History: In the beginning there was no Bro Code. Which was problematic for the worlds first two Bro's, Cain and Abel. Due to lacking any agreeable principles, Cain killed Abel and committed history's first ever Broicide. Punishment was harsh for this as Cain was forced to walk the earth alone. Without a wingman, Cain had absolutely no chance to meet chicks.

Century's later a Bro from Sparta and a Bro from Troy got into a fight over a chick named Helen. The two Bro's waged a terrible war over this chick. A war that could have been prevented if they had just the basic rule of the Bro Code. Bro's before Hoe's. Troy put up a good fight but Sparta had a strong navy and soon hordes of Spartan seamen burst thru the Trojan barrier and Helen got half the gold for next 18 years.

Hundreds of years later a little known delicate known as Barnabis Stinson attempted to draft the first ever Bro Code. Over the years many Bro's have added to this fine tome. But Stinson's words remain as the glorious preamble to The Bro Code.

Violations: When a bro violates The Bro Code, He hurts not only his Bro's but also himself. Because he is no longer Bro-worthy. There are no tenets within the The Bro Code that can not be discussed with another Bro. I erg all Bro's to first seek permission from another Bro before he does something or someone that he feels it may violate The Bro Code. Best time to do so is when Bro is super drunk, like almost past out drunk.

If and when a violation occurs, the offended Bro has the right to administer an appropriate punishment for the violation. He may choose from one of the approved punishments. Which follows

1) Revocation of wingman status 2) Text blackout 3) Designated all-time tip leaver 4) Removal from inappropriate e-mail forewords list 5) Water boarding 6) Temporary removal from cookouts/sunday football party's 7) Loss of shotgun status in vehicle 8) Pick-up/drop-off from airport privileges revoked 9) Must help offended Bro move furniture, and the worst of all 10) offended Bro no longer required to bring beer over.

What's your take on 'Bro Code?' [R]

This is in regards to a confession bear post on the front page at the moment. A man told his friends wife that his friend was cheating on him. He states bro code doesn't matter. The more you scroll to the bottom of the comments a lot of redditors are saying how bro code trumps the fact that the husband cheated. And the friend should have just shut up.

What's your take on the bro code?

To me the "bro code" isn't as ubiquitous as everyone makes it out to be. Sure cracking jokes about it or reading this can be funny, but those aren't hard set rules. The bro code is just a set of rules between you and your friends, and it's constantly evolving. Of course there are general rules like don't hit on a dude's ex right after they break up and don't mess with him the night before a big interview/test/etc, but some are more fine tuned. Everyone is different and everyone's friendship is different. I've got dudes and dudettes who's boundaries that I know and there are others that I don't. For instance, it's 2:30am right now and I could walk into my best friends house, raid his fridge, and watch some tv while crashing on his couch and it's no big deal. Another friend of mine, I won't go anywhere near his place unless I check with him first, because he's a solitary dude.

The dynamic of each person's relationship is constantly fluctuating, but with those that are in your inner circle you should have a general set of rules to abide by. Don't joke about Mikey's boyfriend unless he brings it up first, never touch Rob's keys, if you catch Steven drinking by himself go talk to him, when Brit starts cleaning up her place get the hell out of dodge, etc.

Given OP's context though, if a friend of mine's wife asked me if he was cheating I would answer honestly because I don't condone cheating. If my best friend was cheating, his SO would not have the chance to ask me, because I would be too busy beating the crap put of him.

What fictional books do you wish existed? [R]

I had a thought while re-watching Harry Potter the other day, I know that J.K. Rowling has written and released three books that were mentioned in her novels, but not the only one I really want, Hogwarts, A History.

This thought got me thinking about other fictional books I'd love to read but couldn't think of much, just The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch and the real The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. There has to be a ton more interesting fictional books out there, what are yours?

Need help with a HIMYM Christmas Present for my cousin. [R]

6 years, 2 months agoDec. 17, 2013

Hey guys! As the title says, I need Help with a present for my cousin. She always gets me awesome gifts, and I usually get her some stupid tacky scarf. Not this year!

I remember reading somewhere on this sub about a book that the show is based on. Something like "Apartment 27c". Anyone know what I'm talking about? I've scowered the Internet for some clues, but I can't find it.

I also want to get her a yellow umbrella, and a third item related to the show. She lives in NYC, which I know nothing about, if that helps. Any ideas so I can make this Christmas Legen- wait for it... Merry?
