[Contest] Blast from the Past - Frozen in Time 2 [R]

1 year, 4 months agobatfacecatface posted submission on Random_Acts_Of_Amazon.
April 9, 2018

Contest is closed. Sonya will be picking the prize for the winner tomorrow once she is back from her girl scout camping trip! Winner /u/cxbu

4 years ago - I did a contest about my daughter's Birthday - and I am doing it again. Last time it was for a digital copy of Frozen - but I don't have one of those anymore so this time it will be something my daughter likes off your wishlist :)

To enter: Impart some knowledge/words of wisdom to my 8 year old daughter Sonya - She is turning 9 on the 21st of this month!!! (and Ironically having a Frozen themed party - you all see the tie in to that old contest?)

There are more lessons than I can teach her in this world. So I am thinking of making a small book with words of wisdom that I bring out every so often and read to her... Then give it to her when she is able to read well. I would love to add more words of wisdom to this book!

Also the Raffle Phrase - in case I can't decide on the best advice is "Sonya, Your Momma wouldn't tell you this but"

Contest will end on April 14th - After I get back from dropping her off on her Girl Scout Overnight!!!

Also for a bit more fun - Link me to something every 9 year old should have!

Sonya, Your Momma wouldn't tell you this but...

I'm not sure of your beliefs but what I will instill in my children from a young age is finding their identity in Christ. One you stand firm in the fact that you are a child of God (at any age), then nothing of this world can touch you. <3

Every 9 year old should have this.

Oh, Verdi! I also love Stellaluna!

Hypothetical: If you knew someone who named their daughter Luna, would you assume one/both parents were Harry Potter nerds? [R]

Nothing against HP (I like it, but I don't LOVE it), but the name Luna is the top girl's name that my husband and I agree on as we prepare to try for a baby. We both like how it sounds, the meaning, and how it goes with the middle name we would use for a girl (Gayle, after my grandmother). But I just hesitate because the connection between Luna and the HP universe might be too strong, and I would get annoyed if people frequently assumed that's why we chose it. Any thoughts?

Stellaluna!

Seriously though, I actually like Stella more (it was also my great-grandmother's name!) but my husband doesn't like it :(

Boy name that fits with surname Luna [R]

Too close to Stellaluna (one of my favorite children's books!) imo.

Edit: just saw that OP said she liked the Stellaluna link.

[S] A picture that hit the front page a while back of a very large fruit bat (around 1 meter) hanging from a guys roof with it's wings folded. [R]

The bat was just hanging there staring at the camera. It was both cute and extremely creepy.

The children's book Stellaluna had a flying fruit bat as the main character.

My favorite book was/is Stellaluna.

"Wrong for a bird, maybe, but not for a bat."

"How can we be so different, but feel so much alike?"

It was the first book I read by myself (meaning I memorized it). I still have it and sometimes I read it as a bedtime story. The illustrations are incredible and there's a hidden story that goes along with it.

1st of all, I am so excited that they are campaigning to bring back The Reading Rainbow. How awesome is that?!

The Giving Tree was one of my favorite books, ever. :D And there was also Stellaluna!

I don't know how well you can tell in the picture, but here's a bat on my back porch.

I'm super excited. We've seen several of them out there, but this is the first time I've been able to get a picture of one.

So...the contest bit. Give me bat advice. Link me bat things if you can and/or would like to. Bat houses, bat-themed decorations, etc etc. I love bats and want to keep them around, I hate bugs! So if anyone has bat advice that'd be great. Give me bat stories. Anything bat related!

Contest will end when I get paid, which theoretically will be Thursday the 29th. Probably sometime in the evening, depending on when I get home. Winner will receive something around $5 off of their WL. You're welcome to link me something, or I'll pick. Whichever.

Raffle: Humans don't have tails!

(Bonus points to anyone who gets that reference.)

Edit: For those interested, I took some more pictures with my better camera.

I know nothing of bats, but im sure if they have a place to hang out, like a bat house, they'll definitely stick around. Put it up in a corner somewhere out of the way from pets ect.

I can link you this bat book, because I have it and it's pretty cute. Other than that, I got nothin! But have fun with the bats! Their great creatures!

My all time favorite children's book! Really anything by her is fantastic! Not super educational beyond a few random bat facts, but soooo cute. If you get that I'm sure Lars is going to love his LiLi! Congrats!

I remember loving Stellaluna and The Rainbow Fish. I was also reading The Poky Little Puppy when I was very young (probably from memory and not actually READING, but still!); plus, it's a classic!

EDIT: $10 item

EDIT deux: ooh! Also! Old Black Fly - I couldn't tell you what it's about anymore, but I had the book plus an audio version & I remember it being very fun to read!
