Where to get micro size pry-bar for removing support material [R]

1 year, 8 months agobridymurphy posted submission on 3Dprinting.

So I'm looking for something I can reach in and dig out support material, like the typical L-shaped pry-bar. Like https://www.amazon.com/Titan-Tools-17005-Stainless-Scraper/dp/B000OECQOK/ except with the pry end about 1/4" square.

I'm not talking about https://www.micromark.com/Miniature-Pry-Bar because I want the end to be 90 degrees, not a gradual curve.

I looked on Amazon, Micro-Mark, Google, Toolsource, etc.

I've tried bending a strip of metal myself, but it either snaps or unbends when I use it.

Any suggestions?

I use a watch case back opener to free my prints from my glass bed. Hope that helps.

[IDENTIFYING] While searching through my grandparent's house, I found this Longines pocket watch that belonged to my great grandfather. All i know is that it is probably from the 1920's or 1930's. Anyone know the model? [R]

I would have struggled as well probably. St least until I inherited a watch knife (not sure how rhis tool is called in English). With something like that it becomes relatively easy to open a watch.

And it is probably cheaper. I am sure you can find some video on YouTube explaining the use.

What is this thing I found at my mom’s house? The handle is plastic. [R]

It's my pleasure.

If you're working on a Timex Weekender, more likely this tool would suffice. If the backing is indeed screwed on you would need a tool like this.

You can still find similar looking Seiko variations to Timex pieces. Check out the SNZG15 for example. There are so many Seiko pieces, it would be wise to not get completely discouraged when looking into the brand!

Thank yo!u

It is safest to use one of these than a butter knife or something. They're made to be safe to use on watches.

Those are opened using something called a "case knife", which is not sharp at all. See for example this one.

They buy them from old stock. You can find assortments of them in eBay, but it's probably overkill for you to buy one yourself.
