Xbox One controller rechargable battery pack issue/suggestions? [R]

1 year, 8 months agoNuM_Brrr_WoN posted submission on xboxone.
Oct. 22, 2018

I have the play and charge pack for my Xbox One controller. I also have my Xbox One X in fast start mode which I am also assuming always supplies power to the USB ports and I leave my controller plugged in when I put my Xbox into sleep mode.

I was playing some Black Ops 4 last night maybe not even a half hour yet and I get a message that my controller battery is low and my controller starts disconnecting which seems insane for a full charge. So I plug it on and wait like 1-2 min and unplug it and I see it that the battery meter looks like a full bar again. Any idea what's up with that? I should have tested if it still had full power but I was just gonna leave it there to charge more and play my Switch. Or would it show a full bar for like a min and drop to nothing again?

Anyone have any experiences like that? Also I know the play and charge pack hasn't always been the most reliable but this one is fairly new.

Any other suggestions for good rechargable battery packs, what do you all use?

What's the rechargeable set up for a standard Xbox One controller? [R]

I'm still using AAs like it's launch day and now that I got a new job, I want to invest in a convenient rechargeable device.

There's just so many options both officially and unofficially and a ton of articles with each one having a different top recommendation.

What's reddit's consensus? What do you use?

EDIT: Jeez did I get downvoted out the gate because I kept using batteries? It's the case of a poor person and shoes, guys. Sorry but I'm trying to make the switch now and want your opinions.

EDIT 2: Thanks for the positivity guys! The official Xbox play and charge wouldn't be for me because my Xbox is so far from where I game. The eneloop setup doesn't sound exactly like what I want but I'm going to go for it! Ordered a starter kit off amazon because you all had such positive feedback on it. My original desire was to get a setup sort of like my Switch where. because I have two sets of joycon, one controller is always charging while I'm playing. The eneloops seem like the best way to give me that level of convenience at the moment. Sad for no dock but what can you do.

Thanks guys! :)

energizer charger w 2 battery packs and base they also have a white base if you prefer.

I’ve had the older version of this and bought another of the newer because I like it that much. It’s pretty solid to have a place to caller home for your controller when you’re done, and it just charges. It should be plenty for a days of gaming but if you use headset and do t charge it you’ll run the batteries low.

I bought this one in December of 2014, and it has been great. I play a ton of Rocket League and GTA V on PC with it, and it will for hours on a charge. I think my longest ever play time was during an extralife games marathon, I went for about 7 hours on a charge. It wasn't dead, but I was.

Xbox One X will be my first console ever, do you guys have any tips for me? [R]

2 years, 8 months agoRabiv posted submission on xboxone.
Oct. 9, 2017

As the title says I have never owned a console before and to be honest I've barely even played on one since all my gaming was done on PC. So I'm a complete noob and I was wondering if you kind people had any advice for me regarding pretty much anything?

Before anyone asks - yes, I do have a 4k TV and I'm OK with the price so I assume it makes sense for me to be buying the X instead of something else (please do correct me if I'm wrong though). But other than that I'm quite clueless and a few questions come to mind, and please pardon my ignorance if they are stupid.

What games might I be interested in? Including older ones and non-exclusives. I only know I will be buying RDR 2 when it comes out.Found the GOTY threads, I'll read those, unless there's something 4k specific.

Is Kinect really not worth it? Are the games really so bad/boring/... that it will end up being a waste of money?

I understand there is the elite controller, is it worth the extra money? How is it different from the regular one?

Speaking of controllers, how long do the batteries last? I've seen a charging station - will I be needing it?

The subscription(s?) baffle(s) me a bit. So there's the Xbox Live Gold and the Xbox Game Pass? Or is that the same thing? Or is there more? The official site doesn't really do a good job of explaining it.

That's all I can think of right now but if there's anything else I should know please tell me. Thank you!

(English is not my native language, please go easy on me, I know I make mistakes)

Thanks everyone, you all saved me hours of googling, really appreciate it.

[Tech] Controllers disconnecting. No solutions successful [R]

3 years, 10 months agoDherman516 posted submission on xboxone.
Aug. 30, 2016

Since Day 1, my XB controllers will disconnect while in game and reconnect a few seconds later. This is obviously very annoying and disruptive to game play.

I have updated firmware, tried 3 different controllers, and replaced one controller. Nothing seems to have helped. I thought maybe it was my router (though I'm connected via Ethernet) or my Chromecast. I've disconnected power from Chromecast and moved router further away. No effect. I have 2 of the old style controllers and 1 of the new (with headphone jack). Everything is the same.

All signs point to an issue with the console, not the controllers. I've been trying to fix this for a bit over a year (when I got my Xbox).

Help? If I didn't like XB so much to have invested in an all digital library, I'd move back to PS. I'm so frustrated with this.

Unfortunately, I think this happens with all version of the Xbox One controller, no?

When I was using the play and charge kit with the stock (non-3.5mm port) controller I would encounter this frequently. Once you connect the USB cable there will be strange headset issues, if it works at all. It sucks, but I just removed the battery pack and left it connected via USB and it worked fine.

However, since then I bought this, and never looked back: Energizer 2X Charging System for Xbox One. Comes with two battery packs, and works great with Elite and Lunar White controllers too!

  1. I'm not sure about Spark, but I'm pretty sure Neverwinter is online only
  2. The controllers are not rechargeable, however you can power them with a micro usb cable. (Android charger) Also several reasonable options for rechargeable battery packs on Amazon. Here is the one my friends and I use.
  3. Mainly playing games online, lots of deals and free games.
  4. If you want to play all the Halos again, definitely get it.
  5. It will be digital.

I'm sure people can add to this. Hope it helps!

As far as I have seen, this is also the only place that has the Master Chief version on sale.

EDIT: In the same vein, the officially licensed Energizer dual-controller charger kit just dropped to $20 on Amazon as well. It was $25 earlier today, and several places have it more expensive as well. If you're picking up a couple of controllers, this might not be a bad idea to add on.

Has anyone had any issues using third party battery adapters or charging stations for their controllers?

I've had luck with the Energizer one. Full charge lasts close to 30 hours gameplay with XOFours connected, and recharges over night.

Does anyone own this? If so how do you like it? [R]

Wow. I actually did not expect this system to be this good. I had the OG Xbox and the 360, which I thought nothing could top. The excitement I had playing my 360 for the first couple times is coming back. I have only played Black Flag so far (first AC game too) and fooled around with the start screen, but man is there potential here. I can't wait until MCC comes out. Time to bring back the old group and relive those 2004-2010 memories of Halo.

BTW: What do you guys recommend, the play and charge kit? Or just buy a rechargeable set of batteries and charge them myself?

And has anyone tried the stereo headset attachment for your own headphones?

I nominate the Energizer Charging Station. I've been using it for about a week with my SO bundle, and I absolutely love it. It's the same price on Amazon as the Play and Charge kit, but it'll charge two controllers and has the red/green indicator lights. You don't have to plug anything in either. The controller just sits on the station.

Just curious.

We have four consoles in our living room right now (WiiU, 360, PS4, X1) and two headsets...with a total of 6 regular sized controllers, a WiiU pad, and then two Wii controllers with nunchucks and a classic pad.

Im curious how people are keeping things organized?

I've been designing a set of plans that people could use to build their own controller center.

It'll be about 2ft tall and 14" wide. It will have a bottom shelf that's a little bigger for the Wii/WiiU stuff, a shelf for each other console and then a headset rack.

On the back will be a cord that will drive a USB hub that will charge the xbox360, X1 and PS4 controllers as well as provide power to the WiiU charger.

Is this something you guys would be interested in seeing for an R&D video?

Oh, I'll be cutting the pieces with a 150 watt laser :)

I have an Energizer Charge station for my XB1 controllers, and I use an Ikea fold away hook to hang my headset on. I put the cables in the drawers where my XB1 sits. IKEA EXPIDIT are awesome for console storage, though I have a nice Entertainment Center in the living room with my Wii (no U) and 360 (I use the 360 version of the same Energizer stations here as well) along with the controllers and headset for that TV.

1) They will match large retailers only. And I want to say it has to be a printed ad.

2) I am going digital with the exception of the two discs I bought at launch. However I would say it boils down to if you are going to sell/trade your games back or not. Side note, if you sell/trade them back a bunch I would suggest redbox or gamefly might be cheaper.

3) I prefer the chargers that hold the controller. I really like the energizer one (Amazon Link)

Wired Controllers? Is this really a thing? (Details in text) [R]

6 years, 1 month agoAustacker posted submission on xboxone.

I've seen an ad (Scuf) that says you can but their "braided cable" and turn your controller into a wired controller.

I realize any micro USB cable will work just the same as their "braided" cable, but what do you get for your trouble? Is the controller just powered by the USB instead of the batteries, or is your input being fed to the X1 through the cable? Is there any difference in speed? What would be the benefit other than not needing batteries?

Thanks to those in the know.

Just get a charging station like this one :

You put the batteries in the controllers and at the end of each gaming session, just put the controller back on the cradle.

There's no inconvenience involved at all here (I've had the same rechargables in my controllers since I got the X1 on release day and they're fine) and I can run my controllers wireless.

I always found it strange people say they're too lazy and find the inconvenience to change batteries a hassle, but still prefer to use a corded controller tethered to their console.

The X1 wireless connection is so quick now it's virtually indistinguishable from corded anyway, so I wouldn't even waste my time with this braided bullshit solution, but to each their own.

I had that happen a couple of times, and quickly realized I'd be going through a monstrous pantload of AA's before finally dying of malnutrition playing this console, and then I found [this guy] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EADTVLW/ref=ohdetailso03s00i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I've had it for about a week, and I just hang the controller up to charge when I'm done playing for the day. Each battery (It comes with two) supposedly lasts 40 hours (or twenty per battery--I can't tell if they're being coy about that) so you theoretically won't have any issues with running out of juice in the middle of a session.

If you are, then might I suggest a shower?

Xbox One Controller Disconnect Issue Since Last Update [R]

6 years, 3 months agoprop0001 posted submission on xboxone.
March 16, 2014

Is anyone experiencing disconnect issue with their Xbox One since the last system update, controller update and/or stereo headset adapter update? I bought and connected my Stereo Headset Adapter and was prompted to update my controller just after my system updated. There was a controller update and another controller update for the Headset Adapter. Both installed successfully. Since then I have been getting random disconnects during game play. I would be prompt to hit the 'A' button to reconnect. Pressing the 'A' was unresponsive and required me to take out my charged plug and play battery and put back in to reconnect. The controller would also disconnect with the USB cable connected. I've since tried to reinstall the controller update, re-pair the controller to the Xbox one and attempted a hard reset to the system. None of these seem to fix the issue. Is anyone else having this is and/or have a solution to fix?

This not be your issue but I had similar problems with the xbone controller. Generally I found the reason to be the batteries were not seated completely in the compartment. I ended up buying this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EADTVLW/ref=ohdetailso00s00i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Its not really that special for $40 (just 1100 mAh NiMh baterries) but the battery pack fits snug and secure in the compartment (uh kind of like the 360 controller). I have not had a problem with the controller since.

My 48 hour impression coming from Ps4 [R]

6 years, 3 months agoMarch 12, 2014

I traded in my ps4 for the titanfall bundle out of pure impulse. To be honest I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised that yes the game is awesome, but I love the OS, there's a lot to it but I love how detailed everything is. And I was worried about the whole resolution rumors with games on xbox one vs ps4, but to be honest, I haven't noticed anything different, forza is beautiful no number is going to tell me it's not. And I love the fact that Microsoft is pushing out updates very fast. I nearly shit myself with happiness when I could say "Record That" and BAM it does it.

Sorry for the rambling, but I love the system so far. Will probably need to pick up a play and charge kit, and maybe a headset :/ but other than that I'm in love with my xbox one!

Seems to work well so far and it looks nice up by the xbox. Honestly other than that I don't think there are any worthwhile accessories to get for it.. you could look into getting a kinect mount for the Tv. I got this one and it works great, but doesn't have privacy protector. I don't really care though.

Battery meter doesn't display properly with the Xbox One Energizer Charger after update? [R]

6 years, 4 months agoShojikoto posted submission on xboxone.
Feb. 14, 2014

I don't know if it's because it's a 3rd party charger or what, but my battery meter on my dashboard is showing my controller is only half charged. I use the Xbox One Energizer Charger to charge my controllers. Which, with that, the dock itself tells me if the controller is full charged by displaying the green light, which it does. I have even tried connecting my second controller which I only use when playing multiplayer locally, so that has been charging the past week. That one even tells me my battery is only about half way charged. There is no way a controller that has been charging for a week straight is at a half charge.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with 3rd party batteries/chargers?

Has anyone else come across this issue since the update?

6 years, 4 months agoShojikoto posted on xboxone.
Feb. 14, 2014

That's understandable. However, they aren't rechargeable AA batteries. It's a rechargeable battery pack that, which you recharge by placing your controller on the docking station.

It's one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-licensed-Energizer-Charging-System-Xbox/dp/B00EADTVLW

So, I guess what you're saying could still apply, but I don't see how it's different from using Microsoft's Play & Charge kit. I put my Play & Charge battery pack into my controller and that shows as being a full charge even though I haven't used it in like 2 weeks.

My only real question about the Xbox One is... [R]

6 years, 7 months agoNov. 20, 2013

Has there been any mention of a keyboard attachment for the controller, or a charging stand for the rechargeable batteries? I follow multiple gaming sites (ign, polygon, the verge, ars technica, neowin, /r/games, /r/xboxone) and NONE of them have even mentioned the peripheral that made the Xbox 360 10x easier to use (the keyboard) or the stand that let's me charge backup batteries.

I know that we'll have voice control, but it'd still be nice when entering info (think email addresses here) to have that keyboard, and considering the old keyboard snapped into the screw holes to hold it on so firmly and was backlit, I'm wondering how this will be approached (if even created for) the next Xbox One controller.

I don't like to be the bringer of bad news but it says "conductive" not inductive, it plugs into the controller to charge it. Induction uses a coil and it needs to just sit on a mat for example, this unit doesn't appear to be induction.
