Recovering from an embarrassing mistake? [R]

I finished up my dining table and was drilling pilot holes in the bottom to attach the metal legs.

Being walnut, I was pressing fairly hard on the drill for the holes. On the fifth hole, the wood was randomly incredibly soft and the drill went through the table like butter in an instant.

Any tips on how to recover from this? I'm freaking out right now :(

There are other dyes you can use, or even some artists dyes/pigments if those are easier to get for you
