OMG SO MANY
This eye mask is the best. Actually light blocking. Wear one every night now. Lewis N. Clark Eye Mask
I have tried literally every dumb airplane sleep thing on Amazon and 100% the best option is a plain old cervical collar. You can get them in the right size (The Embrace sleep collar is too small for most) and it actually keeps your head upright and its easy to pack and its cheap. Trtls are dumb. Who wants to lean one way all night. I'd rather not lean at all. Get a cervical collar.
This drawstring bag/mat for toiletries. I mainly use it in "bowl" form more than mat form and its so awesome and easy to pack/unpack. I actually don't wear makeup anymore but it does a great job of containing deodorant/moisturizer/sun screens/lotion/etc.
Lonely Planet PDFs. I know, I know, the internet exists but honestly, its so worth the few bucks for a chapter or $15-20 for a whole country book to get accurate details on transpo, some ideas of highlights (the top highlights are easy to find on the internet but the medium ones and not-so-known ones are not as easily found in an internet search), opening hours, cautions, etc, etc.
Super long phone charging cable! Seriously, get a 6-foot one. Its a life changing for <$10.
Cheap packing cubes (or good ones if you're inclined, you do get what you pay for) My favorite flat ones and cube-y ones both are ~$6 and shop from China so, give it a month.
Don't go overseas without a good phone case. Screen repair on the road kinda sucks logistically.
Effective but not hideously looking blindfold? [R]
4 years, 7 months agoApril 25, 2015So I'm still looking for a blindfold that offers total darkness and doesn't look ugly as hell.
Usually I use this one: http://stockroom.com/Fleece-Lined-Red-Leather-Blindfold-P2098.aspx I love its aesthetics and feel but it doesn't really get the job done as subbies can see through the gaps near the nose. I found this is the issue with most blindfolds.
I know of the Mindfold and the new ones by Ozbondage.com which seem very effective but I just find those bulky and ugly. Those swimming-goggle-like blindfolds look ridiculous as well.
Any ideas?

I mean I just use a sleep mask, I think it's actually this one. Is that ugly? I don't know. I've got it next to me and it isn't too bulky at all, and the padded bit over the eyes completely prevents me from seeing anything with it on. It does attract lint like CRAZY, the fabric that the front of it is made from. Inside has very soft fabric. I don't think it's that ugly but when I'm wearing it, I can't see what it looks like, so... that's never been that huge a consideration for me haha.
Also, does a wonderful job as an actual sleep mask, if you happen to have broken blinds that send sunlight streaming into your room when you finally want to sleep in.

Looking for quality too

I use this one for ~$6 on Amazon. It is a comfy material and it has extra padding under the eyes which keeps the mask off my face a bit and helps with blocking light out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SKXRNO/ref=ohauisearch_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

LPT(Request): How to become a heavier sleeper [R]
5 years, 7 months agoCrimdusk posted submission on LifeProTips.April 28, 2014
I'm an extremely light sleeper, anything can wake me up, light, movement in bed, a small sound.
Is there a way to become a heavier sleeper?
edit: Wow thank you all so much for all these tips, I'm for sure going to try out a few of these. You all are awesome!

The Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask has a pillow that runs along the bottom to block just such light intrusions. Would recommend. It's made of a cloth material; occasionally i'll prefer my silk one - but this is my 'daily driver'.
