15", ~$1500, USA: Need to replace my Lenovo Yoga 720 for drawing/design work [R]

  • Total budget and country of purchase: USA; $1500 max, but I won't complain if I can get something closer to $1000.

  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I guess all would be ideal, but 2 in 1 is paramount as I'm using this perdominately for drawing.

  • How important is weight and thinness to you? Would be a plus, but as long as it isn't 10 pounds, I can live with it.

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15", but willing to go down to 13"

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Must be able to run Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom -- sometimes two Adobe programs at the same time.

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/a

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Pen support is a must! Other than that, I don't have any dire requirements.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Although this will also be a personal laptop, I'll predominately be using this machine for work, which entails a lot of Photoshop and Illustrator (mostly Illustrator). I was really interested in the HP Spectre x360 with these specs: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-spectre-x360-2-in-1-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-512gb-solid-state-drive/5712363.p?skuId=5712363 . I've heard great things about it and was wondering what everyone's experience has been so far (since I've also read great things about my current laptop and super regret buying it....).

By the by, if you stumbled across this and are interested in the Yoga 720, save yourself the trouble and don't. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-720-Display-Issue/td-p/3711026 If you want me to elaborate on other issues I had with the laptop, leave a comment.

EDIT: Instead looking at the ThinkPad x1 Yoga or possibly the Samsung Note 9 now

This is actually a great option but do you really need 16 gb ram ? I would consider this as a better option much better value for money.

Probably something along these lines...? As it's going, though, I'm leaning towards the Spectre.
