I need earbuds with a good mic for using Discord on my Galaxy S7 [R]

I use Discord on my phone when gaming with friends who stream and what not. I game on a console though, so when I join discord I join it on my phone. My mic quality is absolutely atrocious though, it sounds like I am talking through a pillow. I would love to get some earbuds with great mic quality, or at least normal mic quality.

I am not looking for <$20, but <$100 is reasonable to me. Any suggestions? Apple products will not work

Me too! I like my etymotic

Friends on discord say I sound fine, but this blocks a lot of external noise which is good. I use it with my phone.

Wore earplugs for the first time... [R]

I’ve never watched a silent movie but I kinda have an idea on how it goes now. I have a super loud akra full system s1000rr and I could barely hear it. Is this even safe? I couldn’t hear ANYTHING. Took those bad boys off in the office and I felt like I stepped into a metallica concert. And its just people speaking on the phone. Damn these 3M foam things are strong...

Etymotics have increased riding fun (with loud exhaust) by 10 times. They isolate sound much much better than any foam plug.

I used to ride with 32db foam plugs, Etymotics are in a whole different category, I'd say they isolate something like 40db (uneducated guess here)

Couldn't recommend them more:

How do you play along to music or a click with acoustic kits? [R]

I need to practice some songs and my shitty headphones are just not cutting it. I've really neglected this issue in my practice routine. What's the best way to play acoustic drums along to music (and/or a click) without hurting your ears or having to play super quietly?

I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-Isolator-Noise-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B00OQG7IC2/ref=mpsa110?ie=UTF8&qid=1527872558&sr=8-10-spons&pi=ACSX236SY340_QL65&keywords=etymotic+earplugs&psc=1&smid=A19NVE4G6SOT2C

I never have to turn the volume on my phone up past 50%, even when playing loud. I can hear the metronome or music I’m listening to clearly, but also hear the drums clearly. I’ve personally found them way more useful than over ear headphones.

Etymotic Research MK5 Isolator Low Profile Noise-Isolating In-Ear Earphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OQG7IC2/ref=cmswrcpapa_VxaqAbX594Q6D

These sit deeeeeeeep in your ear canal, and once you put them on you can't hear anything else other than what you're listening to. I have the HF5s, but I think these isolate just as much.

> Isolation: Not too important, but loud is what I need, more than isolation, will be using at work, but it's a warehouse type area.

The higher the isolation of an IEM the less need to "crank it". Some manufacturers make IEMs which you basically place directly infront of your ear drum. Unfortunately they are a little over your budget Etymotic MK5 Isolator

I highly recommend you check these out and consider upping your budget.

Next point: If you want to increase the lifespan of your headphones, stop jamming them in your pockets. That brakes the soldering contacts. Use the pouch that comes with "better" gear and takes 20 seconds to properly coil the cable when you store them.

You can get maximum possible isolation for $64.

The Etymotic MK5 sits very deeply in your ear canal and isolates better than any Active Noise Cancelling headphone.

In-ear earphones recommendations? [R]

I have some cheap skull candy earphones that I've been using, but have found that I need to listen at a low volume because the voices can be piercing at times, but sometimes it's too low that I can't listen when there is outside noise. Not sure if I need to find some earphones that have more bass or what? Hoping someone can offer some insight for best earphones for audiobooks/podcasts.

(I have over the ear headphones for work and home, but prefer in-ear earphones for when I'm out in the world as they aren't so bulky)

Ok lets answer this for real. No personal anecdotes about what I've liked in the past. I've used a lot of earphones. Lets get into it.

What you are looking for in an audiobook earphone is a mids-focused presentation balanced with good comfort levels. The middle part of the audible range is where we hear vocal. This sits between the bass and treble. Now the earphone in question doesn't need to emphasize this range but shouldn't have it recessed either.

You seem to be looking for really good sound isolation from the environment. The Etymotic MK5 is excellent for this, and you'll have a hard time finding better sound isolation. It has very precise and analytical sound especially in voices. The comfort is what takes a hit for this level of isolation. Some people really don't like triple flange tips. https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-Isolator-Noise-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B00OQG7IC2

For a more comfortable headphone that still have great mid presentation but warmer sound with more present bass, look at the Thinksound TS02. Its my favorite durable and just plain fun earphone. Much more exiting for music than any etymotic and still works great for audiobooks. Their isolation isn't as much as the etymotic, but you can improve that. https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-Isolator-Noise-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B00OQG7IC2

They are so discounted on that amazon link from what they used to come for that I'd recommend throwing a few bucks of your savings toward some Comply earphone tips. Improve isolation greatly. Its memory foam in your ear. Whichever earphone you intend to use them with, make sure you get the right version on their site, but I find the 200s pretty versatile. https://www.amazon.com/Comply-Foam-Premium-Earphone-Tips/dp/B004HKIABA/ref=sr11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1493866044&sr=1-1&keywords=comply+200+foam+tips

What hearing protection do you all use? I thought about some nice bose noise canceling headphones

What's the difference between the etymotic MK5 and MC5? I'm not talking about etymotic kids 5, I'm talking about the MK5.
