[Question] Can you put a steel watch bracelet on any watch? [R]

3 years agoBrixSeven posted submission on Watches.

I'm looking to replace my leather strap with a stainless steel watchband but I'm not sure how it's going to look. Does anyone have experience with this?

It's a Bulova 96B158.

Maybe a Bulova Precisionist? It has relatively straight, chunky lugs but with a slight curvature towards the band.

I only make this recommendation because the black dial/black leather version is on my wrist right now. :) I recommend it for the price, it's highly accurate and the second hand sweep is smooooooth.

With few exceptions, no mechanical watch(like the Seikos) is going to be as accurate as a quartz one (like the Bulova). People like them for other reasons, and owners of mechanical watches don't mind pulling out the crown and adjusting the time now and then. If you'd rather just always have the right time, the Bulova is a good choice, but since you mentioned metal bracelets you should get the 96B159 instead, because it's much easier to find a nice leather strap later on than it is to find a metal strap that fits the case.

[Advice] Help me pick one of the following quartz watches [R]

Swiss quartz especialy in this grade has horrible resale value,

And in this range (or almost any other range with some exceptions) Japanese quartz is superior to swiss.

Get the Bulova

But then again you can get this http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-96B159-Precisionist-Round-Watch/dp/B0073B5T28/ref=sr114?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1426506723&sr=1-14&keywords=bulova+precisionist

It has high accuracy and a 16 tick a second seconds hand making it look mechanical, but it seems to be a bit flashly for your taste.

[Question] Best quiet watch on a budget? [x-post from r/malefashionadvice] [R]

Full disclosure, I was sent here by MFA because they said you guys really know your stuff.

I recently started dating a girl who says she loves my Timex Weekender, but she's got excellent hearing and says that the ticking really bothers her.

Any advice on a similar NATO strap-style watch that ticks very quietly or silently and won't break the bank?

She can hear the ticking becuase theres a reason why the weekender costs 30 bucks...

So get something that "dosnt" tick http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-96B159-Precisionist-Round-Watch/dp/B0073B5T28/ref=sr18?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1412703129&sr=1-8&keywords=bulova+precisionist

It does tick, at 16 times a second, so i doubt she will be able to hear it.

Wrist Check = What are you wearing?

Post a photo of your watch of the day.

Please try to include the brand and model in your post! You're also encouraged to write a few words about your watch. Some users might also appreciate knowing your wrist size, for a virtual fit check.

If you'd like some tips on improving the quality of your watch photos, check out these useful guides:

As always, be respectful of others and follow the rest of our rules. All reasoned opinions are welcome, and remember: criticism about a watch is not a criticism of the owner. Just because someone hates your watch doesn't mean they hate you.

Have fun!
