Is it possible to connect an original Xbox 360 to a computer monitor? [R]

1 year, 5 months agoO100001 posted submission on xbox.
Feb. 6, 2018

I bought an Xbox 360 (original make) for Black Friday and just decided to bring it with me to college. I couldn't bring a TV so instead I brought my PC monitor and bought this adapter. I plugged everything in but I didn't get a signal, and I'm wondering if I need a different adapter or if the Xbox isn't compatible with PC monitors. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ways to use 360 with VGA cable? [R]

So I'm trying to move my 360 into my bedroom, and I only have enough space for a computer monitor. The monitor I'm using only has a VGA port, but the 360 doesn't so is there a way I could connect using an adapter? Would I be able to connect the 360 to a laptop with an HDMI cable, then connect the laptop to the monitor with the VGA cable?

Edit: I have a VGA to mini HDMI adapter, would that work?

Xbox 360 VGA adapter. Unless you have the latest model (Xbox 360 E), you should be good.

Your vga-hdmi adapter may work, but the analog-digital conversion will produce latency. Since they made a cable specifically for VGA connections, it would be better to go that route.

Setting up headphones with my xbox connected to monitor? [R]

I'm trying to play destiny using my monitor because it's more comfortable than my tv. It only has an hdmi and vga port, and the hdmi is taken by the xbox connection. It also has no speakers itself.

What is the cheapest or simplest way I can connect my 3.5mm headphones so I can hear game audio? Is it possible to find a 3.5mm output to vga converter? Or maybe use the 2nd port on my 360 to connect something? My dad has a bunch of random adapters in the garage but I'm not sure if any of them would help.

Or does xbox have some sort of wireless headphones themselves?

Ok, you could get this to go from the Xbox to your monitor

Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041D1L3W/ref=cmswrcpapi_5jU4yb5YE14K0

That splits the audio and video into VGA and your audio, then get this to go from that cable to the amp earlier.

Then one of those 1/4" to 3.5m adapters and your headphones.

[Help] Connecting my Xbox 360/PS4 to my monitor & get sounds from my speakers [R]

2 years, 9 months agoMendedX posted submission on techsupport.
Sept. 24, 2016

Please bare in mind i am not computer savvy so if i do sound retarded my bad - a friend recommended me to come here for some help. Nonetheless...

I have a Acer Monitor (bought in 2012) this monitor doesn't have a HDMI port but has the port where u connect the blue thingy in. (Sidenote: on my pc i use a cream looking connector, if i remember, this is a more powerful connector (i think) to give a better resolution)

And I have really old logitech speakers - basically its two speakers with a bass thing, now this bass thing has three wires: one connected to the sockets, a connector similar to the blue connector but is black colored and is connected to the PC, not the monitor, and wires connected to the speakers itself.

The speakers: has this green jack thingy, basically has the same tip and stuff like normal earphones you plug into a phone Now with these i wanna be able to connect my XBox 360 to the monitor whilst being able to get sound from the speakers.

second part of this post is with connecting a PS4

(I plan sometime in the future to get a ps4 and get rid of the xbox) I've been hearing information on the internet that some features on the new PS4 slim/Pro doesn't have some hardware features or something - will this prevent me getting sound from my speakers? are there alternatives to get sound if i do buy the slim/pro version of the PS4

Now i am willing to get a new monitor as well as other stuff that require me to connect a ps4/xbox to my pc (budget would be £250-300 max) but would prefer if i could still use the same monitor and get a resolution close to 1080p along with able to get sound from the speakers

I have reposted this on other forums on reddit not getting enough responses so I thought i would give a last try here

Before I can help, here is the names of the connectors you have. The Blue one is called VGA, and the Cream one is called DVI. The Easiest way of connected the Xbox 360 to the Screen is to use a Xbox 360 VGA cable https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B0041D1L3W. The Connector goes into the Blue connector and you will have to use a RCA female to 3.5MM Female adapter https://www.amazon.com/Gametown-3-5mm-Stereo-Adapter-Female/dp/B00ZZGAZJA/ref=sr13?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1474748249&sr=1-3&keywords=rca+female+to+3.5mm+adapter+female

If this is too much for you, just get a computer screen that has at least 2 HDMI ports on it or a DVI and HDMI port on it with a built in speaker. As of right now I believe that the PS4 only can be display out of HDMI so you will have to use a screen with HDMI in it. I will be able to better help in two hours from now, at work.

Best of luck!

I'm getting an Xbox 360 today for my son and I have no idea where to start. [R]

So a good friend is gifting me his 360 w/ games (some call of duty/battlefield games, GTA V, and Rockband) and I'm going to give it to my 10 yr old son so we can game together. I've played on one only a handful of times so I would consider myself a beginner. Where do I start?

Do I need to set up an account? Does it require a subscription to play online? What are some must-have games (my son is a big Star Wars and Lego fan so I'm definitely getting some of those games)? Should I get any particular accessories?

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: everyone has been so helpful! Thank you all for the solid info and suggestions. We went tonight and got the second controller and started him and my 8 yr old daughter the Disney Infinity game. Hopefully that'll be a good start. I have a few I'll be getting into soon, such as Assassin's Creed and Bioshock. Thanks!

If you've got an old computer monitor laying around, it might help you to know that this is a thing that exists: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B0041D1L3W/

(You would want to make sure to get the specific one that works with your model of 360 -- apparently it's not a case of all cables work with all consoles?)

Turtle Beaches to a HDMI to VGA Monitor. [R]

Okay, So here's the deal-io.

I have an Xbox 360 (HDMI Out) and the monitor I bought doesn't have an HDMI Input. It's got DVI and VGA -- so I bought a XBOX HDMI to VGA converter.

The monitor doesn't have speakers or an output jack for audio.

Once the Turtle Beach (x12) is USB plugged into the XBOX, where do I take the audio cables if the Monitor has no audio?

Pls halp bbys

assuming you bough this:

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B0041D1L3W

the XBOX VGA cord should come with two red and white audio tails that should plug into the the audio adapter that came with the X12.

Okay, so a while ago my Xbox started to show these strange red pixels when it was plugged in through HDMI(I am using an HDMI to DVI cable going from my Xbox to my computer monitor). These strange red pixels did not appear when I had the xbox plugged into A/V. I also bought a new HDMI to DVI cable to make sure it wasn't the cable, and I was correct.

I don't have any skills with soldering things(never tried, don't have the gear as far as I know), so I thought my only option was to send the Xbox into mircosoft and pay $80 for a simple problem such as a defective HDMI port. I did a bit of searching, and I came across this A/V to mini HDMI converter. Would I get a DVI quality signal if I used A/V cables connected to the converter connected to a micro HDMI(male)/HDMI(female), then put my HDMI to DVI cable into the port of the microHDMI/HDMI cable? Sorry if that's a little confusing

If your xbox has a silver disctray then it probably has an hdmi out. Most monitors have HDMI in, but if yours doesn't you can still use the VGA.

I bought this cable: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041D1L3W/ref=ohdetailso05s00i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has good reviews and is a lot cheaper than the offical xbox cable (it has given me no problems in the 2 months I've been using it.

Now you just have to figure out what audio your monitor supports (that is unless you are using a monitor that doesn't support sound, in which case you will have to use some external speakers.)

**If you do have an hdmi out of your xbox and a monitor in, it will probably be a lot easier to deal with (and cheaper than the VGA adaptor).

Okay I have a ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED. I am trying to hook both my PC and my Xbox 360 up to it. My computer is hooked into the DVI port and runs fine. But when I try to go into the monitors menu and select the D-sub it is saying there is no input.

I am using an HDMI to vga cable to run from the xbox to the monitor. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time?
