I bought one for my 6-cell and one for my 4-cell, they're amazing. You can't focus the beam, but it's so bright for so far, you don't really need to. I think if you focused it, it'd probably blast a hole in something.

As the title says I'm looking for a light for working in the jail. I'm looking at 2 right now a streamlight stinger and a nitecore srt7. Would ideally like a light I could strike with if I had to. Budget is $120 at the highest

Your applicatin screams for a maglight, but then with a retrofit kit (Amazon link) that will bring it to today's standards. Keep in mind I have never done this myself as I lost my own maglight years ago, but if I needed something to strike with a Maglight can't be beat.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007843698/ref=ohauidetailpageo01s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Try this bad mother fucker. It's take the maglite from decent for fucking supernova spectacular. It also has three power settings and on the lowest setting is still 3x times brighter then the LED maglite bulb.

Went through some boxes and there it was, as good as new. I've bought only LED lights for the last ten years so I'll have to convert it to get the brightness up.
In not a modder though and this is a bit of a jungle so I thought I'd ask you guys what you would use to get this old lamp back in shape.
What to use and where to buy it, prefererably.

Long ago I upgraded 2 of my old 2D Maglites with something similar to:
- Terralux MiniStar5 6EXB
- and 2x: 1AA to 1D size converters
I recently discovered this:
- Terralux MiniStar31 M-EX
- Which will also require two of these for a 2D Maglite: 3AA to 1D IN SERIES converters
Maglites have changed a little, so if you go with the MiniStar 31, be sure it'll work by checking that the center terminal stands slightly above the flashlight body.
edit: I'm probably going to buy the MiniStar31 from Amazon where it's listed for roughly $55 (instead of MSRP of $100).
