I posted here a few weeks ago looking for Tips for my hair being very dry and causing matted knots on the underside of my hair even after washing my hair day one.

I actually already had the products, but I decided to try it again. I used Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curling Shampooand SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner I took the advice and applied the conditioner to the underside of my hair to help get it where it needed it most.

After stepping out of the shower I towel dried my hair and applied Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk

Plop until I felt like it, slept in a satin cap and bam! My hair is noticeably softer, the curls are a lot curlier not wanting to fall straight like they did before.

I have high prosperity hair, my hair would actually get frizzier and dryer as The days go by, these products have protein which has helped my hair get the moisture that it needs which has reduced the frizz and the drying out. Very happy with the out come, I washed on Friday (this pic is Sunday) and I’m still rocking my hair today Monday, I expect to make it most of this week with out needing to wash. I’m 38 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) this was for my baby shower!

Album of other angles/lighting/length of hair

I prefer to have it on the longer side and having it with a texture on the top.

As of recently I 've been using Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curling Shampoo and tresseme conditioner perfectly un-done

I live in a small town and never been happy with a haircut, would it be worth to travel to a more populated area/city for a better salon/barber?

Do me proud men.

No old short styles please

The Hair, Makeup, Skincare, Fitness, and Fragrance Thread will be posted every Tuesday morning (~9:30AM PST)!

This thread is for simple hair and makeup questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

Example questions:

  • What's a good conditioner for straight, thick hair?

  • Where can I find a perfume with subtle pine notes?

  • Do you use a foundation with sunscreen? Is it worth it?

For another sulphate-free shampoo, I LOVE SheaMoisture brand shampoos and conditioners. I used to have the itchiest, driest scalp and fluffy hair. I've been using it for about a year and my hair and head are generally awesome, even in the winter.

My favorite is the coconut hibisucus one which my bf says smells like bubblegum (no it smells like an awesome tropical smoothie.)

You can get it cheaper at Target I think, and also I got like 6 bottles BOGO at CVS in the fall, so stalk them a bit and they go on sale every once in a while!

So, not exactly my face, but I get acne on my scalp pretty consistently and have for the past....5 years or so, probably 4 or 5 spots at all times in different locations but they are usually centered near the frontal end of my scalp (does that make sense?). Higher than my hairline. Like actually on my scalp.

I switched a few months back in August to a shampoo without sulfates Shea Moisture curl and shine shampoo (http://www.amazon.com/Shea-Moisture-ORGANIC-Coconut-Hibicus/dp/B0038TXGL0/ref=sr111?ie=UTF8&qid=1384504579&sr=8-11&keywords=shea+moisture) and to a silicone free conditioner (I use a bunch of different ones, right now Suave Naturals). I style with Shea Moisture curl and style milk (http://www.amazon.com/Shea-Moisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Style/dp/B0038TYTSO/ref=sr15?ie=UTF8&qid=1384504674&sr=8-5&keywords=shea+moisture).

I switched from using shampoo and conditioner with sulfates and silicones to these products for my curly hair (which have been working amazingly well btw to any curlies) and was hoping that switching from SLS would help the acne but no luck. I was thinking coconut oil might be the culprit but the acne has gotten neither better nor worse since switching.

Any ideas? I wash my hair every 2 days or so and would say that my scalp is a little on the dry side but nothing too extreme. The acne can be painful and it would be nice for my head not to be in pain when I run a comb over my scalp, for example.

Thanks guys!
