This one is great! Both fat boys used to get up there together, but they had too many fights so now they share.

Another rough day of naps, snacks, and more naps. Plus, catloaf. [R]

Yes of course! I got the window perch bed on amazon (here's a link!) and then put a soft cat bed-type pad on top. He spends hours in it every day. :)

Just moved. She’s surveying her new domain. [R]

You know what? I hear ya. But kitty cot stays put, for real.

You do have to clean the cups and the window before you put them up. The only time it has fallen is when I ignored that advice. It does not require frequent re-sticks.

Best seat ever [R]

I purchased the Kitty Cot. I personally would say it's overpriced for what it is (PVC piping and plastic mesh), but it's held up to my kitty's weight and I'm too lazy to build my own.

Everyone loves him so much [R]

Seeking advice/confirmation about leaving 8 week old kitten by himself for short periods of time [R]

First time posting on this subreddit, but the title is why im here.

Most days i have plenty of time to spend with him, but im a college student with a part time job and i cant always be around him.

When i first got him he would meow non stop if i left the room. He's gotten better, but i dont know if he does that when im away.

When i am away, i keep him in my room with the door closed with his litter box, food and water, and plenty of toys.

Ive read that keeping the tv or radio on while you are away helps them with being by themselves. I also put most of my wires away just incase he wants to get into them.

I just feel bad when i have to go because he always gives me a look like "Why are you going?" And it really bums me out lol.

So what im asking is 1. How long is it okay for him to be by himself? And 2. How can i make his time alone better for him?

Also to note, i cant get a second cat. I was thinking of doing so, but my landlord only allows one pet per appt.

Thanks!

That's a shame, as I always recommend adopting kittens in pairs. At that very young age, I'd spend as little time away as possible until he's a little older. A cat window shelf is a good idea, along with a bird feeder.

I installed shelves on all the windows in my house, and the cats love em even years later (entertainment, and warm under the sun).

Since you can't install permanent shelves, something like the kitty cot might be a good investment.

All it takes is one week in a new house for him to destroy the blinds [R]

I recommend this to make him more comfortable: Original KITTY COT "World's BEST Cat Perch" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C5TUVXU/ref=cmswrotherawd_OtgLwb4CJ5WSE. I have two in my front window that I put blankets on for my princesses. They love sunning on them.

I installed lookout shelves for my cat. Six hours and four large holes in my wall later.. [R]

How about a Kitty Cot? Couldn't find them on the Australian site, though...

I think every cat should have a tunnel, because they're so cute when they take a running leap straight through them!

The kitties at my local shelter love this sort of thing, but UGH money. This one isn't as fancy, but it's cheaper!

Since you said rent friendly, I'm assuming these are a bit out of price range, but Funky Cat has some of the cutest scratching posts I've seen.

I do! They are kitty cots. Both my cats have wrestled on a single one and it stayed attached no problem. I think the beige things they are laying on are standing pads or something like that to make it a little less static-ee (not that that's really possible here, but I can try).

I should note that on a "fat" day Willow comes in at just over 7lbs, and Milo's usually around 10.5lbs. They're not exactly chubby kitties.
