I would recommend this Eluktronics Pro-X P650HP6-G because it comes with everything you need, 7th generation, i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16GB of ram for smooth multitasking, good SSD storage of 256GB for faster boot up and loading, 15.6 inch Full HD IPS Anti-Glare screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, GeForce GTX 1060 GPU that should be able to handle the games on medium to high settings with very good FPs, G-SYNC, long battery life, very good heat management, and it is within your budget.

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10.

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming & video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

Within that budget range and based on PUGB that you want to play , I definitely would go for this Eluktronics Pro-X P650HP6 gaming laptop...It will do a very good job at running those games as well as editing video.. The 1060 graphics card will do a good job at running PUGB and the 120 HZ display it has working with the GSYNC technology should give you some decent FPS.

Looking for a Gaming Laptop to replace my desktop [R]

  • Total budget and country of purchase: Under $2000 but preferably ~$1500, USA

  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs>Battery Life>2 in 1

  • How important is weight and thinness to you? I'd rather not a 20lb beast on my lap but its not really a huge issue.

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A but over 13"

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Games mostly, Pretty mixed. Anything from Mine sweeper to Witcher 3

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Minimum medium settings at 60fps the most intense game I play is probably witcher 3 but who knows in future.

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good Keyboard, Large storage, Build quality

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Like I said, I'm planning on selling my desktop pc which is an i5 6600k, 980ti, 16gb ram, 2 120gb ssd's, and a 1tb HDD so I need something somewhat comparable. I am going to get an external enclosure for the 1tb HDD so I can store games on it. Most of the reason for wanting a laptop is just being able to go wherever in the house to play around. I don't use it for commuting or work or anything. Just flexibility around the house.

There is around a 35% increase in performance between the GTX 1060 and 1070...As it relates to the comparison...This Eluktronics Pro-X P650HP6-G would be a very nice pick and it's 120 hz display with the gsync technology would help to give improved frame rates in some games... The truth is though that I recommend going for a 1070 graphics as it is more powerful, more future proof and of course, it pairing with the GSYNC technology makes more sense..

It would come down to what you think will be most important to you. For gamers, many prefer the 120 HZ screen that this Eluktronics has. If you were more into design or any sort of visual activities, this model has a 4K IPS display. Or even this model has a 1080p IPS for a little less at $1350.
They also have the newest generation quad core i7-7700 processor, 16GB ram, a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD combo, and the powerful GTX 1060dGPU. Without knowing much about what your needs are, it'll come down to which display you're valuing.

[15in 1080p] [USA] [~$1500] Looking for a gaming laptop, looking to put pros/cons into perspective for ASUS GL502VS-DS71 versus an Eluktronics Pro-X P650HP6-G [R]

I previously made a post using the official form here but won't take up space here for it. I'm interested in these two laptops, but I want advice, especially concerning the Asus which has heat issues:

SpecEluktronics P650HP6-GASUS GL502VS-DS71
Operating SystemWindows® 10 Home 64-Bit (Clean Installation, No Bloatware)Windows 10 Home, probably lots of bloatware
CPUi7-7700HQ Quad Core (2.8-3.8GHz TurboBoost, 6MB L3 Cache)i7-7700HQ (unsure about "Turboboost." Amazon doesn't say, but the Asus page claims it does)
Graphics card6GB NVIDIA GTX 10608GB NVIDIA GTX 1070
Gsync?YesYes
RAM8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM (1 Dimm, 3 empty)16GB DDR4 (2 dimm, 8GB each)
Solid State Drive128GB Eluktro Pro-X Performance M.2 PCIe NVMe Flash SSD128GB SATA3 SSD (I dunno if it's NVMe)
Hard Disk Drive1TB 7200RPM SATA III1TB 5400 RPM SATA III
Refresh Rate120 Hz (5ms delay)120 Hz (no delay figure advertised)
Screen TypeTN eDP Anti-Glare Display (1920 x 1080)IPS (1920 x 1080), with 160 degrees viewing angle advertised
Power Supply200 W230 W
Battery4-Cell 60WHr Polymer Battery62WHrs, 4 cell Li-ion Battery
Weight5.9lbs or 2.7kg4.9lbs or 2.2kg

So I like everything about the Eluktronics one, but I couldn't find too many reviews. The Asus is just more powerful, and more expensive. If everything works as advertised, I would really like the Asus, but from the reviews I was able to find, it has REALLY BAD problems dealing with heat. The GPU seems to be fine, getting up to the low 80s for pretty much all the reviews I've looked at, but they all said the CPU was exceeding 90, and in one they say it goes above 100 and automatically throttles and shuts down. Other reviews, like this one say that they're both fine, but since those guys are actually selling the laptop, I don't know if I can trust it. Due to the extraordinary variance between reported temperatures in reviews, maybe it's just a really cheap thermal paste job, which I could fix (and in the process void any warranty) but I'd rather not. Secondly, I've only seen one person point it out, but you can see this in the pictures on the amazon page: opening the laptop lid covers the vents on the back. That seems like a really stupid design. Like I said, I've only seen one person even mention it so maybe it's not a problem, but it concerns me a lot.

The reasons I like the Asus are: 1. The 1070. I really like that both of these have the 120 hz displays, and so it would actually make sense to have a card that could genuinely push significantly higher than 60 fps. 2. The screen. I can literally not find a single other laptop that has both 120 hz and an IPS display, and all the reviews have only good things to say about this one (minus one on Amazon that says something about light bleed in the bottom left corner). 3. Least important, honestly: the weight/size. I'm using it for more than just playing games, I want to do work on it and take it around to school, so the Asus would be nice for that.

So I wonder if anybody knows about the heat issues. Amazon reviews suggest undervolting the processor and/or applying new thermal paste. How risky is applying new thermal paste? I've never done it before and I don't want to break a $1600 machine through inexperience. Is it likely that the complaints are just a loud minority?

Thanks!

  • Total budget and country of purchase: Was hoping 1500 but I can go over. USA

  • How important is weight and thinness to you? I want to be able to carry it around college without it being to much of a hassle

  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6 or smaller

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mostly for gaming but also note taking and some business programs

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I would like it to be able to play all current games at near max if not max settings while maintaining 60 FPS

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I would like a good sturdy with a good screen. I would also like good quality keyboard since it will be for gaming.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Which would be a better fit for me? Here are the links to the specs for each. For the Eluktronics Pro - X I would be able to make it 1060 6gb instead of the 1070 8gb and save 250 dollars.
